The museum moved to the Panther Creek Village Center in 2010 and celebrates its anniversary in this location each year with cake and special performers. Serving families throughout the Houston metro area, the museum has grown during this time to serve over 120,000 guests in an average year. Focused primarily on learning through play for children ages 7 and under, the museum offers hands-on exhibits, workshops, events and cultural performances, field trips, birthday parties, and unique performances like the Le Theatre de Marionette Silly Strings Variety Show being presented during this year’s Birthday Celebration.

Children are invited to laugh and giggle during Le Theatre de Marionette Silly Strings Variety Show at 11:00am and 1:00pm. Le Theatre de Marionette’s repertoire of storybook classics has delighted audiences with their family-friendly, kid-tested and teacher-approved marionette puppets shows for years.

Guests are invited to sing Happy Birthday to the museum at 10:30am, 11:45am, 12:30pm, and 1:45pm and enjoy a slice of birthday cake upon exiting the museum, while quantities last.

“We are excited to offer the one-of-a-kind art of marionettes to the children in our community. This form of puppetry dates back as early as 2000bc and in modern times this lost art can be found in the Disney movie Pinocchio. Le Theatre’s marionette puppets are handmade and brought to life by master puppeteers whose manipulation of strings brings these characters to life,” states Angela Colton, the museum’s Executive Director.

The museum offers visitors another form of puppetry each week on Thursdays at 11:00am during Shadow Puppet Theatre. Shadow puppetry is an ancient form of storytelling which uses flat cut-out figures that are held between a source of light and a translucent screen. During Shadow Puppet Theatre children watch shadow puppets come to life while enjoying new and classic stories.

The Woodlands Children’s Museum is open for extended summer hours, including Tuesday-Friday 10:00am – 4:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am – 5:00pm. Guests are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets for the popular birthday celebration at www.woodlandschildrensmuseum.org. A limited number of tickets will be sold to provide families with a safe and enjoyable experience. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and children over age one. Museum admission includes birthday celebration activities.
