Sheriff issues Release regarding False Online Posting on Human Trafficking

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is aware of a recent social media post regarding human trafficking at The Woodlands Mall. A copy of the photo can be seen below.

We want to inform the community that this posting is completely false. There are no reported abductions or attempted abductions from The Woodlands Mall or in fact, any location in Montgomery County. Sheriff Rand Henderson and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are committed to ensuring the safety of our residents and visitors as well as providing the most up-to-date information as possible.

As a reminder, most victims of human trafficking are cultivated via online. The first step is to educate yourself and your children about the dangers of online predators. We encourage parents to know what applications and websites their children are using and monitor their usage and or their activity.

We ask the public to verify the validity of a post of this nature with your local law enforcement agency before sharing it online. As a reminder, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has a free app (MCTXSheriff, found in the APP Store and Google Play).
