Sheriff seizes Counterfeit Items at Woodlands Mall
On December 1, 2020, Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (The Woodlands Township Division) received a tip that a business located within The Woodlands Mall may be selling high-end counterfeit fashion items and accessories to the public. The counterfeit items were being sold under many of the following name brands Burberry, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci.
After the initial investigation, Detectives were able to locate, identify, and seize over 1200 counterfeit items, including cell phone cases, watchbands, earbuds, and numerous other items, which collectively were valued at over $32,000.00. Upon further investigation and subsequent interview, the store owner advised these items were known to be fake and were ordered directly from a manufacturer overseas. This information was forwarded to the appropriate agencies for an international investigation. Detectives were able to obtain affidavits from several of the name brand companies listed above regarding the confirmation of the counterfeit items seized by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
This case is an active investigation with Felony charges to be filed locally with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The retail values for the actual name brand products that were counterfeited would have been approximately $648,000.
