Commissioners Court proclaims “Sheriff Tommy Gage Day” and Sheriff Doolittle renames Annex in His Honor
On April 29, 2025, in a powerful display of gratitude and respect, Commissioner Charlie Riley and the Montgomery County Commissioners Court proclaimed April 29th as “Sheriff Tommy Gage Day” — honoring a lifetime of public service and leadership.
As part of the tribute, Sheriff Wesley Doolittle officially renamed the West Montgomery County Annex in Magnolia to the Sheriff Tommy Gage Magnolia Annex, a lasting symbol of his contributions to law enforcement and the community.
“Sheriff Gage built a legacy of integrity, innovation, and service,” said Sheriff Doolittle. “Renaming this annex ensures future generations know who he was — a leader who truly served the people.”
A U.S. Navy veteran, Houston Police Officer, and the 40th Sheriff of Montgomery County, Tommy Gage served for over 35 years and launched many of the agency’s firsts — from the Cold Case Unit to the full- time SWAT Team.
The Sheriff’s Office and Commissioners Court invite the public to join in honoring “The People’s Sheriff.”
