SJRA Update: Crews on Water Line Break site through weekend

By  |

The Woodlands, Texas – The San Jacinto River Authority has shared an update on Friday, September 27 at 4:15 p.m. regarding the repairs to San Jacinto River Authority’s Groundwater Reduction Plan water line in The Woodlands at Research Forest and Technology Forest.

“We appreciate the community’s patience while our contractors continue to repair the Groundwater Reduction Plan water line break in The Woodlands as well as the eastbound lanes of Research Forest. The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) and Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack’s Office (Precinct 3) want things repaired as quickly and as safely as possible, unfortunately it is not a quick process. We realize this is an immense inconvenience for everyone who drives in the area. Repairing a water line and a major thoroughfare is a large-scale project that requires a detailed process to ensure the work is done properly and safely. The process is outlined below.”

Process:

  • Uncover affected area after Tropical Storm Imelda;
  • Dewater the area;
  • Remove bank sand from around the pipe;
  • Install a new section of pipe;
  • Hydrotest the new pipe;
  • Backfill the affected area;
  • Remove remaining pavement;
  • Re-pave the affected area; and
  • Coordination with Precinct 3 to reopen the eastbound side.

“SJRA continues to work closely with Precinct 3 and the Montgomery County Constable’s Office. The Woodlands is not anticipated to have any interruption of water service during the process. Businesses are not expected to be significantly impacted as this section of Research Forest Drive has no direct entry sites or driveways that are obstructed.”

“Thank you for working with us to ensure the safety of the community.”
