Student brings gun to Magnolia Junior High School

By  |

Earlier today, Deputies with the Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constables Department received information from the Magnolia Independent School District that a gun had been observed by a student at the Magnolia Junior High located at 31138 Nichols Sawmill Road. Precinct 5 Constable Deputies assigned to the campus immediately responded and did locate a 9mm pistol inside of a juvenile students backpack. The pistol was reportedly brought to school by another student and traded for a vaping device. After speaking with both juveniles, Deputies determined that at no time was there a threat made against the school or any other students. Both juveniles involved are currently in custody and charges are being filed with the County Attorney’s Office in Montgomery County for Possession of a Firearm in a Prohibited Place, a third degree felony.

Constable Chris Jones commented, “This is another example of our great working relationship with the Magnolia Independent School District. Fast flowing, accurate information lead to our Deputies being able to quickly investigate and secure the firearm that had been brought to school. The safety of our children and MISD staff is our School Resource Officer’s primary responsibility. The ability to have a Deputy at every MISD campus is something very valuable.”

If you are aware of any illegal activity, please contact the Precinct 5 Constables Office at 281-259-6493 or visit their website CONSTABLE5.ORG to provide an anonymous tip.
