This special concert aims to bring the community together for a fun and relaxed celebration of America through music. Under the direction of Maestro Gary Liebst, the orchestra will perform a program filled with beloved patriotic tunes and new favorites.

“This concert is always special to me as, like the community, I love to celebrate the birth of our nation and take the opportunity to thank those who have served our country,” Gary Liebst, Director of the Conroe Symphony Orchestra, said. “I am so thankful for the freedoms that we have and I hope we never take those freedoms for granted.”

The orchestra is excited to introduce a new selection to this year’s program: an arrangement of “American Soldier,” originally performed by country music superstar Toby Keith. In a heartfelt tribute to our service members, the performance of the Armed Forces Medley will be updated to include the newly composed theme for the Space Force, ensuring all branches of our military are honored.

Guest vocalist Hugh Poland will join the CSO, lending his voice to powerful renditions of “God Bless America,” “God Bless the U.S.A.,” and the new addition, “American Soldier.” Poland, a longtime community leader and musician, currently serves as Pastor of Discipleship at Woodridge Baptist Church in Kingwood and is the Jazz Band Director at Kingwood High School. A native of Baton Rouge and raised in Houston, he brings a warm, personal connection to the music and the message of the evening.

Conductor Gary Liebst highlights the choice of venue, stating, “The First Methodist Conroe provides an air-conditioned space with great acoustics where our audience can enjoy the patriotic music. You just can’t beat the church for a fantastic venue to watch and hear the orchestra.” He adds, “An indoor performance has its own advantages and that includes being able to better hear the music and the fun of taking advantage of the video technology available at the church. And did I mention the air conditioning?”

The Conroe Symphony Orchestra is committed to making music accessible to all, and in this spirit, tickets to the “Celebrate America!” concert are offered to the community free of charge. “The idea is to celebrate this important holiday with as many people from the community as possible,” Liebst explains. “I think we live in a very proud city and county and the people who are residents here are very patriotic and enthusiastic about our country… This concert is another way to show our patriotism.”

Tickets for Celebrate America are required for entry and are available now for free through the Conroe Symphony Orchestra’s website at conroesymphony.org.
