The John Cooper School Varsity Tennis 2019 Season Preview

By  |

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The John Cooper School Varsity Tennis Teams are gearing up for the 2019 tennis season. There will be some great games ahead! Head Coach Jill Del Rio shared what to watch for this season:

OVERALL:

Girls’ Team – “The girls’ team has a terrific combination of returning players and new players. While there may be a few growing pains as the team learns how to work together, the talented group of players will not take long to adjust.”

Boys’ Team“With only one senior and lots of freshman, this is a year for the team to grow! The boys are a competitive bunch and the lines for positions will see some tough challenges.”

KEY MATCHUPS:

Girls’ Team – “Houston Christian will likely be the most competitive team for the girls this year. The match is set for April 25th at their facility.”

Boys’ Team – “St. Johns’ team is the key match-up this year. The match is set for April 3rd at their facility.”

ATHLETES TO WATCH:

Girls’ Team – “Marielle and Olivia Sauber are sisters and each has a unique perspective on the game and a dedication to the sport that is rarely seen at their age. As freshmen, they add support in either doubles or singles and have easily fit in with the team from the first practice. Look for both girls to stand out this season.”

Boys’ Team – “As the only senior, Omar Suki will bring depth to the team and a solid base. Omar is a terrific singles player, but in the last couple of years he has stood out as one of the team’s best doubles players. Look to see him in either position this season.”
