By  |

The Woodlands Township Communications Department has received first place in the PSA Campaign category from the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (TATOA) for its outstanding Project 365 safety campaign. This recognition highlights the Township’s commitment to producing impactful public safety content that supports the Neighborhood Services Department’s annual Project 365 initiative, part of National Night Out. The campaign, themed “Set It – Don’t Forget It,” encourages residents to adopt essential safety practices.

The annual Government Programming Awards, presented by TATOA, honor excellence in government video programming across Texas. This year, TATOA received over 500 entries from 44 jurisdictions, raising the bar for innovative and informative public communications. TATOA’s awards program emphasizes the importance of high-quality, accessible government programming to educate and serve the public.

LeaAnn Petersen, Director of Communications for The Woodlands Township, expressed appreciation for the dedication of the entire project team, especially Video Producer Steven Romero, who brought the campaign’s vision to life.

“This award truly reflects the dedication and skill Steven Romero brings to the Township,” said Petersen. “Steven took the project’s vision and ran with it, coordinating closely with our Neighborhood Services team. His commitment to creating compelling, informative content has played a huge role in making this campaign resonate with our residents.”

The award-winning Project 365 campaign features a series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) on vital safety topics, including home and car alarm security, smoke alarm battery checks, garage door safety and promoting the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s 9 p.m. Routine, which encourages residents to secure their homes each evening. In addition to videos, the campaign includes social media posts, email news blasts and printed materials, enhancing its reach throughout the community.

The success of the Project 365 campaign demonstrates the strong collaboration between The Woodlands Township’s Communications and Neighborhood Services departments, creating an initiative that not only raises awareness but also empowers residents with practical safety tips.

Strengthening communication with residents is a strategic priority for the Township Board of Directors, as effective communication is essential to fostering community engagement, transparency and trust. The PSA campaign is one of several new tools introduced to help achieve these goals. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Communications Department to align with the Board’s vision and enhance the ways we connect with the community.
