The Woodlands Township encourages residents to celebrate holiday safely

By  |

THE WOODLANDS, TX – As the Fourth of July weekend approaches, The Woodlands Township reminds residents that fireworks are strictly prohibited in The Woodlands. The Woodlands is situated in an urban forest and one errant spark could severely damage the community.

Additionally, Southeast Texas is experiencing an extended period of hot and dry weather which elevates the risk of wildfires. Nine out of 10 wildfires are caused by humans and are considered preventable. Please follow these fire safety tips to ensure a safe celebration.

  • While grilling or barbecuing, never leave your grill or pit unattended.
  • Place your grill or pit in an open space, keeping a safe distance from fire hazards such as dry grass, shrubs and woodpiles.
  • After grilling, allow time for the coals to completely cool and ensure that there are no smoldering embers that could reignite. Only dispose of cold coals.
  • Keep a water source nearby at all times.
  • Check with your county to determine if burn bans are in effect for your area.
    1. Harris County:
    2. Montgomery County:

The Township will be producing the Fireworks Extravaganza in a controlled setting in conjunction with The Red, Hot & Blue Festival on Monday, July 4, 2022. Residents are invited to attend at various locations throughout The Woodlands. Eventgoers and spectators are encouraged to experience both the sights and sounds of the Fireworks Extravaganza by tuning in to KSTAR Country 99.7 FM to hear the soundtrack live on or by downloading the app. The app can be found by searching “KSTAR Country Radio” in the App Store or on Google Play.
