The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, produced by The Woodlands Arts Council (TWAC), concluded its 21st edition with strong community support, as patrons turned out throughout the weekend despite a rainy forecast. Prepared for the weather, attendees showed up ready to engage, continuing to support artists and reinforcing the festival’s role as a cherished community tradition.

Named #1 Best Event in The Woodlands by Woodlands Online for 15 consecutive years, the festival continues to be recognized as one of the top-ranked art festivals in the nation. What makes this event so special is the people, including its passionate art lovers, committed volunteers, loyal patrons, generous sponsors, supportive board members, and dedicated festival team. At its heart are the artists, whose creativity and personal stories define the experience year after year.

“We’ve been fortunate to have five years of beautiful weather, and this year presented a different challenge,” said Jenny Carattini-Wright, Executive Director & CEO of The Woodlands Arts Council. “Our team was well-prepared to ensure the safety of artists, patrons, and volunteers. What stood out most was the community’s response; people came ready to support the artists and fully experience the festival. We are deeply grateful.”

The festival’s signature kickoff event, the Art Dash Party, chaired by Dr. Ann K. Snyder and Bruce C. Tough, brought together artists, sponsors, and local community leaders for an exciting evening in support of The Woodlands Arts Council, demonstrating everyone’s commitment to the arts. Funds from the event support the organization’s year-round programming and advance its mission to provide regional cultural and educational enrichment opportunities that encourage, support, and promote the performing and visual arts.

Looking ahead, planning is already underway for next year’s festival, scheduled for April 9, 10, and 11, 2027. During the weekend, TWAC announced jeweler David Alvarado as the 2027 Featured Artist. With more than 25 years of experience, Alvarado draws inspiration from his father, a master jeweler, and his academic background in philosophy. His work thoughtfully explores sustainability, meaning, and the evolving concept of what is considered precious in contemporary culture. A long-time participant in both The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival and the Texas Fine Craft Show, Alvarado has built a strong and loyal collector base within the community.
