Water Line Repair at Research Forest and New Trails

By  |

August 20, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. Update from San Jacinto River Authority:  The slow leak was located and isolated in the San Jacinto River Authority’s 30-inch surface water transmission line located along Research Forest Drive near New Trails Drive in The Woodlands. SJRA’s contractor replaced the damaged portion of line, backfilled the hole, and began pressure testing and line flushing at 4:45am this morning.

All eastbound lanes on Research Forest Drive between Technology Forest Drive and New Trails Drive remain closed during the repairs.  Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the area as much as possible.

Water Line Repair at Research Forest and New Trails

The SJRA transmission line serves The Woodlands, Rayford Road MUD, Southern Montgomery County MUD, Oak Ridge North, and MUD 99 with treated surface water from Lake Conroe.  It was taken offline Monday at 4 p.m. to begin investigation and assessment. However, no service interruption for homes or businesses is expected because all of the affected utilities have backup groundwater supplies. SJRA, repair contractors, and Montgomery County Precinct 3 will be on site throughout the repair.

SJRA and its contractor will work as quickly as possible to repair the leak and restore traffic flow, including 24-hour work schedules and expedited material deliveries.

Please continue to monitor SJRA’s website www.sjra.net and Facebook and Twitter for updates.
