Winter Weather Advisory starts early Tuesday morning

The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will be in effect from 3 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 until 6 a.m. Wednesday, January 17.

“A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for all of Southeast Texas from early Tuesday morning through Tuesday night. Areas of rain developing behind an arctic cold front will transition to a wintry precipitation mix on Tuesday possibly resulting in travel difficulties. This activity will build southward across the area during the day and could persist into the overnight hours Tuesday night. At this time, little to no accumulation is expected. If the accumulation risk or driving hazards increase, this Advisory might need to be upgraded to a Winter Storm Watch or a Winter Storm Warning.”

The following cities will be affected by the winter weather advisory:The Woodlands, Alvin, Anahuac, Angleton, Bay City, Bellville, Brenham, Brookshire, Bryan, Caldwell, Cleveland, Coldspring, College Station, Columbus, Conroe, Corrigan, Crockett, Dayton, Eagle Lake, Edna, El Campo, Freeport, Friendswood, Galveston, Groveton, Hempstead, Houston, Humble, Huntsville, Katy, Lake Jackson, Lake Somerville, League City, Liberty, Livingston, Madisonville, Missouri City, Mont Belvieu, Navasota, Onalaska, Palacios, Pasadena, Pearland, Pierce, Prairie View, Richmond, Rosenberg, Sealy, Shepherd, Sugar Land, Texas City, Tomball, Trinity, Weimar, Wharton, Willis, and Winnie.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
