Rising Artists and Entrepreneurs set to take the spotlight at Young Makers Market

By  |

The Young Makers Market returns for its second year on September 6, 2025, at Market Street The Woodlands (rain date: September 13). In preparation, forty-six young artists from The Woodlands and Montgomery County gathered at The Jett Center, courtesy of Conroe ISD, on August 16 for a day of workshops designed to equip them with skills to succeed as both artists and small business entrepreneurs.

Students from 3rd to 12th grade participated in interactive sessions led by local professionals, covering topics such as photography, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Participants learned how to showcase and sell their work, price their art, engage with the public and potential clients, and develop other essential skills.

The day included a keynote presentation by visual artist Amy Malkan, whose work includes over 70 public murals in Houston. A co-creator of “The Beauty of The Woodlands,” a mural in celebration of The Woodlands’ 50th anniversary, she inspired students by sharing her journey and how art can be a powerful tool of self-expression.

“I am impressed by the talent of these young artists,” said Noemi Gonzalez, Market Street General Manager, Young Makers Market Chair, and TWAC Board Director. “It’s exciting to see so many gifted students in our community wanting to be a part of the Young Makers Market. In just its second year, the response from the community has been incredible; the number of applicants doubled from last year!”

Attendees express their excitement for the opportunity of the upcoming Market. “I have learned that sharing my art with others is the true reason that I love art,” said Lydia Peart, a participant. “ I love seeing people’s faces light up as they connect with the colors or the flowers in my art. It makes the process of creation so worth it.”
