At the event, guests scheduled and had mammogram screenings, and enjoyed light bites and drinks, live music by Michael Rafferty, and treatments by Skin Retreat. Event decorations, including custom pink napkins with breast cancer statistics and facts, were styled by Woodlands Style House.

Dr. Adrienne Blessing, Primary Care Physician and owner of CHP The Woodlands, shared her gratitude toward the women who signed up to have their mammogram and who were there to support one another in taking care of their health and each other. After her mother’s diagnosis last year with breast cancer and attending the Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health Luncheon, Dr. Blessing was inspired to hold the fun event and encourage women to get mammograms. 1 in 8 women get breast cancer in their lives, and many do not think it will happen to them, but can become a reality when you, a family member or friend are diagnosed with breast cancer.

“When I see patients with any type of cancer, with any type of illness, I think the biggest thing is ‘do you have a support system around you that can help you through that?’ And whether it’s somebody that’s been through breast cancer, or any type of cancer, or any illness that support system means the world,” shared Dr. Blessing, addressing guests at the event. “[At CHP] we really strive to make sure that when you have a diagnosis like this that you are connected with the right people, that we can make it as easy as possible because we hate hearing this when have a patient that has a diagnosis like this. We really want to try to take the stress out…Having an event like this where you can come with other women and have your mammogram. I saw groups of women where there are 2 or 3 women together that all got their mammogram. I do hope that they talk in a few days and say ‘hey was yours ok, was it not ok?’ And if it wasn’t the result that you wanted, that you have that support system, because that matters so much. That is what this event is all about. I hope you guys remember this event in the years to come and that we can continue doing this where each year we come together.”
