Ardest Gallery hosts Ekphrastic Poetry Reading with Texas Poet Laureate Dave Parsons

By  |

On the evening of Saturday, July 29, Ardest Gallery, the new local local fine arts gallery located in The Woodlands, held an Ekphrastic Poetry Reading with Dave Parsons, 2011 Texas State Poet Laureate.

Dave Parsons read and discussed the ekphrasis process and his and other poets’ poems in response to the artwork that includes iconic paintings of contemporary artists and those of some of the masters such as Gustave Courbet, Auguste Renoir, and Van Gogh. Ekphrasis derives its meaning from the Greek words ek (out) and phrazein (tell). Ekphrasis denotes “telling in full.”
