Art Blooms at 2023 Art Dash Party

By  |

Art lovers were invited to “dash” for their favorite art pieces at the 2023 Art Dash Party, held April 14, 2023 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel. The annual kick-off party of The Woodlands Arts Council’s Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival raises funds for The Woodlands Arts Council’s Student Art Scholarship program.

Patrons purchased tickets to “dash” for art in the 60 Second Art Dash. Upon arrival, guests were able to view the art and strategize their selections from the displayed art. The first two Art Dash participants purchased their coveted spots during the live auction preceding the dash. The rest of the participants who purchased tickets for the Art Dash were randomly selected. Each guest had 60 seconds to dash to their favorite art piece if it was available. If not, the race was on to find their next option.

The art available during the Art Dash was generously donated by select VIP artists who have exhibits at the festival. Different types of art were available, including fiber art, woodworks, mixed media, photography, painting, jewelry, glass art, ceramics, and sculptural pieces. Artists were at the event to talk to patrons about their pieces.

The theme of the evening was springtime, presented in the colors, flowers, and whimsy of the event, inspired by the works of Cathra-Anne Barker, the Featured Artist of the Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival. Guests were treated to live music from Divisi Strings and light bites and cocktails.

New this year was the “Art is Blooming” floral competition. Local florists were chosen to create floral art based on different pieces by Cathra-Anne Barker. The “living art” was placed next to Cathra-Anne’s pieces, and attendees were able to vote for their favorite floral interpretation of her art.
