Fred Couples returns to The Woodlands for 2026 Insperity Invitational
Boom Boom is coming back to The Woodlands, TX for the 2026 Insperity Invitational presented by UnitedHealthcare, May 4-10.
Fred Couples, who will join a group of seven World Golf Hall of Fame members confirmed to tee it up at The Insperity next week, puts the finishing touches on what is shaping up to be the deepest field assembled on the 2026 PGA TOUR Champions calendar.
“I have always enjoyed coming back to Houston. Everyone knows I went to school here, and it is where I have also had some success winning a couple of times,” said Couples. “The Insperity is highly regarded as one of the best events we play on Tour. We have another incredible field coming this year, and I hope the community will be able to enjoy watching some great golf at the Tournament Course which I believe is one of the better courses we play on Tour.”
It will be Couples’ first appearance at the award-winning event since 2022. He won The Insperity in 2010 by seven shots following a sizzling 29 on the back nine to post a final round 63 which locked up one of his 14 victories on the PGA TOUR Champions.
A winner of 15 PGA TOUR events including the 2003 Houston Open, the smooth swinging bomber is remembered most for his 1992 triumph at the Masters Tournament. Once graduating to the senior circuit, he made an immediate statement. Finishing second in his first start, he went on to win his next three events, becoming the first player ever to win three of his first four tournaments. Couples has two major championship victories on the PGA TOUR Champions: 2011 Senior Players Championship, and The Senior Open Championship in 2012.

Even more special, is we are thrilled to welcome back 20 legends for our annual Folds f Honor Greats of Golf exhibition on May 9.”
Couples will battle against six other World Golf Hall of Fame members including: Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie and Vijay Singh.
The Insperity field also boasts nearly 20 major winners on the PGA TOUR. Defending champion, Stewart Cink, and sizzling hot rookie, Zach Johnson, are amongst a stellar list of major title winners including: Darren Clarke, John Daly, David Duval, Justin Leonard, David Toms and many more.
The Insperity Invitational presented by UnitedHealthcare is widely regarded as one of the top events on PGA TOUR Champions. In 2026, The Insperity will transition to a fully ticketed event.
