Full-time DWI Unit launches October 7

By  |

Today Constable Ryan Gable announced that the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office would be the first law enforcement agency in Montgomery County to have deputies assigned to a dedicated full time DWI enforcement program.

After a study by Texas A&M University earlier this year it was learned that Montgomery County ranks as number one in fatality accidents in the state of Texas by population.  Constable Gable requested in his budget this year for deputies to address this issue. The Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office would like to thank Commissioner’s Court for approving the budgetary requests to address this problem.

Starting this Saturday, October 7th, 2017 the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office will have deputies assigned to DWI enforcement.  The program is not just about enforcement but also the education of the public, including public service messages and education programs to reduce the number of DWIs on the road.

Brett Ligon shared, “In 2016, Montgomery County was tied for first place in the number of DWI related fatalities per our population.  We continue to fight to save innocent lives from DWI offenders.  I am very excited to learn that starting this weekend; Constable Ryan Gable will have full-time DWI enforcement units patrolling in Precinct 3.  These officers will be the first full-time DWI officers in Montgomery County.  This is a huge step forward in our ability to stop DWI in our area.”
