Haunting at Bear Branch cancelled for 2020, alternate program options available this fall

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (September 15, 2020) – After months of deliberation and evaluation, The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department has decided to cancel The Haunting at Bear Branch for 2020.

Various models and possibilities were developed in an effort to continue to host this event in 2020; each model presented its own challenges. With the production of this event including planning, trail construction and hosting over 350+ volunteers and thousands of visitors each year, it was determined to continue to uphold the integrity of the event and out of an abundance of caution that it was best to forgo The Haunting at Bear Branch this year.

The Woodlands Parks and Recreation Department is presenting alternative Halloween and fall program options that can better accommodate safe practices and social distancing during this unprecedented time.

This was a very difficult decision as The Haunting at Bear Branch serves as a longstanding staple event for the community and local volunteer groups, not to mention a staff favorite to plan and host. The Township is committed to bringing back The Haunting at Bear Branch Park in 2021 better than ever.
