IRONMAN returns to The Woodlands for the First Time in over Two Years

By  |

On October 9, 2021, The Woodlands once again provided the backdrop for the IRONMAN® Texas triathlon that returned for the first time in two years. With over 800 athletes starting the 2021 IRONMAN Texas triathlon, Andres Castillo Latorre (Bogotá, Colombia) took the men’s top honors with a finishing time of 8:52:32 while Alice Grant (Boston, Mass.) took the women’s race with a finishing time of 9:23:55.

The 10th edition of the IRONMAN Texas triathlon saw athletes take on a 140.6-mile journey throughout The Woodlands and surrounding North Harris County. Athletes ranged in age from 19 to 81 and came from 45 states and 35 countries, regions and territories. The race began at North Shore Park with a 2.4-mile point-to-point swim in Lake Woodlands taking athletes to Town Green Park. From there athletes continued with a 112-mile flat and fast bike through Harris County on closed toll roads and a 26.2-mile run entirely within The Woodlands before a spectacular finish on Waterway Ave. The event offered age-group qualifying slots to compete at the 2022 IRONMAN World Championship.
