THE WOODLANDS, TX — The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Texas Gulf Coast hosted Montgomery County Light The Night 2021 on Sunday, November 7 at Town Green Park in The Woodlands®, bringing the community together to celebrate those who are fighting the blood cancers and to honor those we have lost. At the celebration, Heath Melton, a regional president for The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC), was honored for his lifetime personal impact of $1,000,000 raised for Light The Night and recognized as the top individual executive challenge fundraiser in the nation for the second consecutive year.

Melton served as LLS’s Light The Night National Ambassador for 2021. As part of that role, he mentored 75 Corporate Walk Chairs across the country, sharing the strategies and techniques that he has used to successfully lead his fundraising efforts for the organization.

In addition to his work nationally, Melton has been leading by example in Montgomery County for six years. Melton currently serves on the LLS Gulf Coast Region Board of Directors. He has also served as the 2020 Executive Challenge Chair; as an Executive Leadership Committee member; and as the 2018 Light The Night Walk Chair with Jim Carman, President of the Houston Region for The Howard Hughes Corporation.

Melton has been among the LLS’s top fundraisers in the country since 2018. For the past two years he has been recognized as the organization’s top individual fundraiser, raising over $310,000 in 2021. Melton’s efforts have been in honor of his mother, Audrey Melton, whom he lost to cancer in 2015.
