MCFB Food Fair with 6 Local Rotary Clubs and Volunteers
The Montgomery County Food Bank (MCFB) is teaming up with six local Rotary Clubs from two counties to host a Food Fair this Saturday, December 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Charles Traylor Memorial Park.
The Woodlands Rotary Club, Conroe, Lake Conroe, Magnolia, East Montgomery County and Huntsville Rotary Clubs will be sponsoring the MCFB Food Fair. Together Rotary clubs with volunteers from local high schools, Lone Star College, and the community will help MCFB provide fresh produce, bread and pastry, and assorted grocery products to those in need of food.
This event is open to any food insecure member of the community that does not have regular access to nutritional assistance. Residents are invited on a first come, first served and limited quantities are available at Charles Traylor Memorial Park, located at 13551 Rogers Road in Willis, TX 77378.
MCFB Food Fair Program
As part of MCFB’s mission to provide nutritious meals to hungry children, adults and senior citizens of Montgomery County, the Food Fair Program is a traveling pantry that delivers nutritious food items directly to communities with a high need. Each food fair is sponsored by an individual, local or religious organization, corporation, or community group.
The December 10, 2017 food fair is sponsored by The Woodlands, Conroe, Lake Conroe, Magnolia, East Montgomery County and Huntsville Rotary Clubs.
Hunger in Montgomery County
- Over 85,000 food insecure people, which is 17% of the population.
- About 32,000 children are food insecure.
- Only 52% of food insecure people are likely to be eligible for SNAP, WIC, and free school meals.
Each month Montgomery County Food Bank serves an average of 35,000+ individuals.
How to Get Involved
The community is invited to join MCFB and volunteer with the Rotary clubs and give back to their community at the Food Fair.
