By  |

After the month long “Stock The Sleigh” community food and funds drive, Montgomery County Food Bank invited the community to attend the festive Drop-Off Event on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 4-7 p.m.

From November 1 through December 2, 2022, the community was invited to get involved in the annual drive by hosting a food drive, becoming an ornament fundraiser or sponsor, participate in the “Deck the Box” contest, and making a donation to have an ornament with their name and gift amount hung at the Montgomery County Food Bank (MCFB). Presented by Kodiak Gas Services and Woodforest National Bank, the Stock The Sleigh Drop-Off Event held at MCFB located at 1 Food For Life Way in Conroe.

Attendees first had the opportunity to donate nonperishable food donation items in the drive-thru drop off line then join in the festivities, including free photos with Santa, arts and crafts, smoothie station, tree lighting sponsored by Blingle, sweet treats, hot cocoa and coffee, tours of the MCFB warehouse, children’s choir performances, and more.

The grounds of MCFB were decorated beautifully with trees and dazzling lights, provided and sponsored by Blingle – The Woodlands, and a winter wonderland scene was the perfect backdrop to take photos with Santa. During the presentation at the event, Better Bookkeepers, Inc. was announced as the”Deck The Box” Contest winner for creativity in decorating their food drive collection box. Attendees then joined Kristine Marlow, President and CEO of MCFB, and Santa by counting down and watching the grand Christmas tree light up before their eyes.

Last year in 2021, Stock The Sleigh had a record breaking year raising over 95,000 pounds of food and $65,000 in monetary donations from the community. These donations helped provide over 400,000 meals for Montgomery County residents facing hunger. This year, MCFB’s goal is to raise one million meals to meet the increased need this holiday season.  If you were not able to attend the event and participate in the drive, there is still time to make a donation here.
