Montgomery County Public Health confirms All-Time High COVID-19 Hospitalizations and Active Cases

On Tuesday, January 12, Montgomery County Public Health confirmed an all-time high of COVID-19 hospitalizations and active cases in Montgomery County.

“It’s imperative that we all follow CDC guidelines to reduce the risk of further spread:

  • Avoid groups of people
  • Practice social distancing.
  • Wear a mask in public (over your nose and mouth) or with others who live outside your household. Never share a mask with others.
  • Teach children proper hygiene and the correct way to wear a mask.
  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer frequently.
  • Disinfect surfaces in your car and around your home.”

Today, MCPH can confirm:

  • TOTAL cases of COVID-19 increased by 723 to 31,822 since yesterday’s (1/11) report. Of the 723 new cases, 642 were tested since 12/31/2020.
  • ACTIVE cases of COVID-19 increased by 162 to 10,394 since yesterday’s (1/11) report. On Tuesdays, we classify additional cases we have been unable to contact for more than 30 days as “inactive.” Today, we added 450 inactive cases.
  • 79 county residents are known, as a result of contact investigations, to be in the hospital. Contact investigations have not been initiated on all reported cases.
  • 15,651 people have clinically recovered.The Testing Positivity Rate for Montgomery County is 22%. This number is updated weekly on Wednesdays.Source: UT Health, School of Public Health
