Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Magnolia Suspect for Shooting of Deputy

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – On Thursday, March 18, 2021, at around 7:50 p.m., deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reporting a male had fired shots at neighbors in the 22000 block of Allyson Road in Magnolia, Texas. Upon their arrival, and while approaching the scene, the Deputies were fired upon. One Deputy was struck with what is believed to be a shotgun loaded with birdshot, receiving injuries in his leg, arm, and head.

The Deputy was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. The Deputy is expected to make a full recovery. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene to assist with the search and apprehension of the suspect.

After several hours, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team successfully negotiated the peaceful surrender of the suspect. The suspect has been identified as 64-year-old Thomas James Mahon. Mahon was charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant and his bond has been set at $300,000.
