Patients at Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands get to be Doctor for a Day at Teddy Bear Clinic
THE WOODLANDS, TX – Patients at Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands got to be the doctor for the day – assessing their bears for injury, checking their vitals, conducting imaging scans, and even being the surgeon and operating on their stuffed animals.
This was the first year an in-patient Teddy Bear Clinic was hosted for children currently at Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands, giving them a fun way to engage with care teams and feel more comfortable with their hospital stay.
This is the fifth annual Teddy Bear Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands – the event held every March during Child Life Month gives children an opportunity to familiarize themselves with a doctor’s visit using stuffed animals and kid-friendly medical equipment. Both in-patient and out-patient clinics were hosted this year.
Goodie bags for the children, which included crayons, sanitizers, diapers, band aids and a craft activity, were packed and donated by the Healing Hearts Committee of the Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc.
