Smalls Sliders® Broadens Texas Reach with Seven Units Across Northern Houston Area

HOUSTON, TX – Smalls Sliders®, dubbed one of the fastest growing Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) concepts, has announced an additional seven units coming to the Lone Star State. This agreement officially marks the brand’s second Texas agreement, now having 12 Cans in development across the state.

Preston Cunningham and David Higgins are the duo behind the brand’s most recent Texas deal. The pair met while developing several units for another popular restaurant brand in the Houston area, ultimately pushing them to join forces in their newest venture with Smalls Sliders. Drawn to the brand for its niche model and cult following, Cunningham and Higgins are eager to begin the development process for their locations.

“We were particularly interested in the unique design and construction of each Smalls Sliders location,” said Higgins. “Aside from that, we also loved the idea of a concept that is based in simplicity. A small menu, small buildout and Cans that are dropped on-site – all of it culminates into a brand that is unlike anything out there. On top of this, we’ve had experience with other brands in the past and the innovation and commitment to technology is truly a breath of fresh air. Smalls Sliders is all about being a frontrunner in the QSR industry, and we’re excited to become a part of this team and really take on that mentality.”

The pair aims to have its first location open by mid-to-late 2024, with the remaining six Cans planned to open through the years that follow in territories including The Woodlands, Conroe, Huntsville, and Bryan College Station. Once opened, the entrepreneurial duo has a goal to become deeply ingrained in charitable outreach, primarily with local high schools to cultivate strong ties to each community they’re situated in.

“We’re thrilled to have operators like Preston and David join our team,” said Maria Rivera, CEO of Smalls Sliders. “It’s a great feeling to be able to attract seasoned franchisees that have already become established with other high-profile concepts, and it’s an added plus that these two fully embody what we stand for at Smalls Sliders. I’m excited to watch their growth flourish in the coming years, and see the relationships they build with each individual community.”

Smalls Sliders opened its first restaurant in 2019 and has since grown to nine Cans throughout Louisiana, with over 80 locations already in the development pipeline. The restaurant has already garnered industry recognition, with QSR magazine featuring the brand in its “40/40 List for 2022: America’s Hottest Startup Fast Casuals” and its 2023 QSR 50 Contenders list. Other accolades include Nation’s Restaurant News naming the brand as one of the publication’s “Breakout Brands of 2023,” in addition to ranking on this year’s Entrepreneur magazine “Top New & Emerging Franchises” list.
