The Chevron Championship extends invites to 8 Elite Amateur Athletes
Continuing its ongoing tradition of providing amateurs with greater access to the LPGA Tour and the opportunity to shine in a major tournament, The Chevron Championship has extended invitations to eight elite amateur athletes for this year’s tournament. The LPGA Tour’s first major championship of the season gets underway on April 24 at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands.
The eight amateurs who will compete in The Chevron Championship are 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion Carla Bernat Escuder; 2025 Women’s Amateur Latin America champion Clarisa Temelo; 2025 Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific winner Jeneath Wong; Chayse Gomez, the highest-placing graduating senior from the 2024 Chevron Silverado Showdown; 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur runner-up Asterisk Talley; and 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion Lottie Woad.
Talley replaces 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion Rianne Malixi, who withdrew due to injury, while Woad replaces 2024 Women’s Amateur Championship winner Melanie Green, who has turned professional since her victory in Ireland.
In addition to the six amateurs who played their way through those official qualification avenues, Chevron elected to offer its two sponsor exemptions to a pair of amateurs who are rising stars in women’s golf. Jasmine Koo played in The Chevron Championship a year ago, finishing tied for 13th and earning low amateur honors. Seventeen-year-old Gianna Clemente was the 2024 AJGA Girls Player of the Year and helped lead the U.S. team to victory in the Ping Junior Solheim Cup last fall.
In a recent interview, Koo credited her experience at The Chevron Championship with giving her the confidence to compete on the LPGA Tour.
“The Chevron was…a confidence booster because The Chevron is like, ‘I’m playing with like the best in the world and so this is the competition that I’m striving for, this is the end goal, and this is where I placed in the end goal.’ So it kind of made more sense. Like there was more of a logic to the confidence that I got from The Chevron,” Koo said.
The eight amateurs will join more than 130 of the world’s best female professionals as they compete on one of the most prestigious courses in Texas to lift the Dinah Shore Trophy and earn the title of “Major Champion.”
In addition to the tournament invitations, Chevron has expanded the pathway for promising young amateurs by inviting the Chevron Collegiate winner, Vanessa Borovilos of Texas A&M University, and the National Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship winner, Divyasheni Gunasegar of Lincoln University, to participate in the official pro-am on Tuesday of tournament week. Two top juniors from the Southern Texas PGA will also be offered exemptions to play in the Junior Legacy Pro-Am on the Sunday prior to the tournament, April 20.
“We are incredibly proud of the tournament’s ongoing tradition of creating opportunities for elite amateur players, and we are honored to welcome them to The Club at Carlton Woods later this month,” said Laura Lane, Chevron’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. “At Chevron, enabling human progress is at the heart of who we are as a company, and The Chevron Championship provides us a unique platform to do just that for these aspiring young golfers.”
Spectator Passes start at $45 for single-day admission, while weekly admission for all four days of play starts at $215. Fans can purchase tickets or view details on ticket options at SeatGeek.com.
Daily and weekly Spectator Passes include access to tournament grounds, various open seating options across the course and food and beverage options available for purchase at concessions stands.
The Chevron Championship is an ideal opportunity to introduce family members of all ages to the game, as juniors aged 17 and under will receive complimentary admission with the purchase of an accompanying adult ticket.
Additionally, Chevron is proud to offer discounted admission to all active and former members of the United States military and their accompanying spouse/partner or dependent throughout the tournament.
Earlier this month, Chevron announced a commitment to donate $5 for each purchase of a general admission Spectator Pass to support area public and charter school teachers through its Fuel Your School initiative. Chevron will donate these funds raised through ticket sales to DonorsChoose, a nationwide nonprofit organization that will use Chevron’s donations to fund classroom project requests from eligible schools in The Woodlands, Montgomery and Spring, Texas.
Since 2010, Chevron has collaborated with DonorsChoose to support over 42,000 teachers in the communities where it operates, bringing over $60 million of resources to the communities that it serves.
Daily and weekly ticket and hospitality packages are available to help fans enjoy every moment of the action at The Club at Carlton Woods.
Guests seeking an elevated tournament experience can enjoy an all-inclusive experience, premium views and enhanced amenities at the St. Luke’s Health Pavilion. A portion of the proceeds from St. Luke’s Health Pavilion tickets will benefit a local charity.
