June 18, 2024 – Bugs Bunny at the Symphony – While your favorite Looney Tunes tickle your funny bone on the big screen, hear the Houston Symphony play the fantastical mixture of classical and modern symphony pieces that originally scored these iconic cartoons – live! It’s the perfect introduction to the symphony for a young family, and it’s sure to feature some classical deep cuts you never expected to star alongside the most famous rabbit in the world. Conducted and created by George Daugherty, Bugs Bunny at the Symphony took the symphony orchestra world by storm, and pioneered the brand new concept of “live orchestra and big screen” concerts. Since its legendary Broadway premiere at The Gershwin Theatre, the original concert has circumnavigated the globe several times over, playing to millions of people worldwide in iconic venues. And best of all, it’s completely free! You don’t even need a ticket. Learn More
June 26, 2024 – The Music of Pink Floyd – You’ve heard rocking symphonies before – but never quite like this. The nature of Pink Floyd’s music made it a natural match for the orchestra. Unusual harmonies, ethereal high string lines and rich underscore allowed the orchestra to enhance what the band was playing. And much of the synthesizer sounds are recreated within the orchestration. Of course, the sound effects that are expected with the Pink Floyd sound are accurately reproduced in the show. Expect to be swept up in the course of these storied songs. Whether you’ve loved Pink Floyd since the beginning, adore complex classical music, or just want to experience something new – this show is for you. Learn More
