May 2024 – Classes and Events at Ardest Gallery – Ardest Gallery, a local fine arts gallery curated by Gallery Director Julie Verville, represents nearly 40, top Texas 2D and 3D visual artists. In addition to its core artists, the gallery will host ongoing events such as monthly group art shows, Coffee Talk with an Artist, Art to Lunch in partnership with local restaurants, poetry readings, musical performances, and art classes/workshops for all ages and skill levels. May 2024 – Classes and Programs at Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center – May is full with programs and events at Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center! Check out the May calendar for events and learn how to join here. Canopy is a cancer survivorship on the campus of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. Canopy is open to men and women, no matter where you were treated, and for any kind of cancer. If your life has been impacted, whether you were the patient or the caregiver, you have a safe haven at Canopy.
May 31, 2024 – Hispanic Business Symposium – Adelante! – The Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber will host NASA Astronaut and Entrepreneur Dr. José Hernández at the inaugural Hispanic Business Symposium – Adelante! The event serves to unite the Hispanic business community, professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders for a day of insightful discussions and networking opportunities. Today – May 31, 2024 – The Woodlands 50th Anniversary Photo Book – Be a part of history! To celebrate The Woodlands 50th Anniversary, a photo book capturing life in The Woodlands in 2024 will be created. Submit your photographic view of The Woodlands for a chance to be selected for this coffee-style book. Photo suggestions include, but are not limited to, nature, parks, trails, wildlife, architecture, building landscape, skyline, art, Lake Woodlands, The Woodlands Waterway, Waterway Square, Hughes Landing, to name a few. April 29-May 5, 2024 – Insperity Invitational – The Insperity Invitational is an annual PGA TOUR Champions event that brings together the world’s best golfers age 50 and older to The Woodlands, Texas. May 2024 – Bike The Woodlands Month – The Woodlands Township, with support from Bike The Woodlands Coalition, invites you, your family and friends to get out and explore The Woodlands on your bikes! UPDATE: ONLINE ONLY – May 2, 2024 – National Day of Prayer Service – Join The Woodlands Methodist Church to celebrate The National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2 at 12 p.m. in the Robb Chapel. We will unite our hearts around this year’s theme, “Lift Up the Word — Light Up the World” from 2 Samuel 22:29-3, as we lift our local, state and national leaders before the Lord in prayer. “Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to move today’s National Day of Prayer service to an online only event. We will not gather in person as planned, but I hope you will join us via live stream at noon as we join together in prayer. May 2, 2024 – Shelter for Shelter – After a hiatus last year, the popular and festive “Shelter for Shelter” fundraising event benefiting YES to YOUTH returns on May 2, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. In its seventh year, “Shelter for Shelter” is presented by the Richmond Realty Group and offers an incredible evening of food, spirits, entertainment, and networking to support a local non-profit that serves at-risk youth in Montgomery County. May 5, 2024 – “Pictures at an Exhibition” Concert – It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words—or in the case of Modest Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” tens of thousands of musical notes! The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra will perform Mussorgsky’s most-beloved composition in time for its 150th anniversary, along with George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and Maurice Ravel’s “Bolero.” The concert will take place at 6 p.m. on May 5 at Christ Church Methodist, 6363 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, TX. May 18, 2024 – YMCA Kids Triathlon – The Woodlands Family YMCA’s 3rd Annual Summer Triathlon Series for Kids and Teens, presented by Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands, returns! The YMCA Kids Triathlon is for Ages 7 – 15 in the Swim/Bike/Run format at the Holcomb Family YMCA in The Falls of Imperial Oaks in Spring. May 18, 2024 – Bands, Badges & Bikes – The highlight of May’s bike events will be “Bands, Badges & Bikes” on Saturday, May 18 at 5:30-7:30pm at Northshore Park. The event will feature exhibitors including local bike shops, bicycle clubs and other supporters of Bike Month. Produced alongside The Woodlands Township’s Neighborhood Services Department, the event will honor first responders with a free evening of live music. The event will also feature maintenance demonstrations, bike safety information, children’s activities, a kids’ bike rodeo, food trucks and more. Attendees are encouraged to bike to the event! May 26, 2024 – Memorial Day in The Woodlands – Celebrate the official start to summer at the annual Memorial Day in The Woodlands festival! The Sunday event pays tribute to all military service men and women who lost their lives while serving the United States. The festival features live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainment and more at Town Green Park. The evening concludes with a dazzling fireworks display choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack. Concessions will be available for purchase. A care package drop-off booth will be available onsite to accept donations of recommended items to be shipped to the troops. PET OF THE MONTH
Hello Woodlands, in partnership with Operation Pets Alive, highlights a “Pet of the Month” that features a local dog or cat available for foster and/or adoption in Montgomery County, Texas. Operation Pets Alive is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization striving to elevate Montgomery County to a No-Kill community through innovative programs that raise community awareness, reduce the number of dogs and cats that enter our shelters, and increase the number of dogs and cats that leave our shelters alive.
