“We know how important it is to have reliable electric service, and we appreciate our customers’ patience during this restoration effort. Following the strongest storm of the spring season so far which impacted the Greater Houston area yesterday, CenterPoint Energy has substantially completed restoration efforts as of 9:45 p.m., with crews restoring power to approximately 166,000 customers over the past 20 hours (or 99% of customers who experienced an outage). Despite strong wind gusts of 60-70 miles per hour in some areas and significant lightning, the vast majority (94%) of CenterPoint’s customers did not experience service interruptions during the severe weather.”
“CenterPoint’s enhanced workforce has been deployed across the system since midnight, working around the clock to repair damaged equipment and restore power to our customers safely and as quickly as possible. Crews continue to work to restore all those experiencing an outage who are able to receive service ahead of more predicted severe weather this week. Out of an abundance of caution, the company has activated its Emergency Operations Center and is actively monitoring the weather for tomorrow afternoon. We continue to execute our severe weather readiness plan and remain prepared to respond with additional crews that are ready to be deployed.”
