Township earns Communicator Awards
The Woodlands Township Communications Department recently earned two Communicator Awards of Distinction for signage design and online advertising. The awards, from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), recognize excellence and innovation in visual and digital communications.
Communications Specialist Barbara Ryan earned her award in the category of Print Content-Environmental and Sustainability for her design of the signage for the Township’s new bird blind, known as The Lookout at George Mitchell Nature Preserve. Her nature-focused design blends educational content with environmental stewardship, helping visitors connect more deeply with the natural beauty of The Woodlands.
Senior Communications Specialist Perry Frank earned his award for digital advertising in the category of Individual Display Advertising B-to-C for the Rodeo Express online ad. The Rodeo Express is the name given to the enhanced service of The Woodlands Express during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Frank’s engaging and whimsical ad captured the spirit of the annual celebration and contributed to the strong public engagement and success of the program.

These awards reflect the core mission of The Woodlands Township Communications Department: to deliver clear, creative and compelling content that informs and inspires the community. Whether through signage in parks or engaging digital campaigns, the department aims to strengthen public engagement, support community initiatives and enhance the Township’s identity.
