Home Sweet Home for The Church at Woodforest

By  |

MONTGOMERY, TX – The Church at Woodforest opened the doors to their new building on Sunday, September 8, 2019. The church family celebrated during the first worship service in their new church home, and the excitement buzzed all morning. Praise, worship and an inspiring message from their pastor, Rev. Brent Parker, captured the spirit of friendship and community that the church enjoys.

Opening Sunday was the first day for a new 8:30 a.m. chapel service followed by the 9:45 and 11:15 a.m. contemporary services. The worship services were overflowing with more than 1,100 members and visitors who dropped by to celebrate the special day. In reflecting on the excitement of the opening, Rev. Parker shares, “It was overwhelming to see so many folks being drawn to our little corner of the community to experience the warm hospitality of our church family and to encounter the life-changing love of God.”

The casual, friendly community calls itself a front porch church where neighbors connect, and friendships are formed. The church has a gym, worship center, classrooms and office space. It was designed with the community in mind so the residents of Woodforest can work with the church to use the space during the week.

The Church at Woodforest is a worshipping community of The Woodlands United Methodist Church. This new facility is the culmination of a dream that started several years ago when the members of The Woodlands United Methodist Church began to discuss what their next steps of faithfulness might look like. They decided that planting another worship community was part of the vision for the church. They purchased land in the Woodforest development and, in January of 2016, The Church at Woodforest met for its first morning of worship together at Jean Stewart Elementary School.

Over the years at Stewart Elementary, the church has grown and become an important part of the Woodforest community. Moving across the street to a beautiful new permanent building allows the next phase of dreaming to become reality. The new building is located at 700 Fish Creek Thoroughfare in the Woodforest community.  Rev. Parker is always happy to meet with people of the community who might want to sit and discuss life over a cup of coffee.
