House approves $7.9 Billion Package for Harvey victims

By  |

On Wednesday, September 6 the House of Representatives approved an initial $7.9 billion package of disaster relief funds for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The vote was 419-3. The bill now goes on to the Senate, which is expected to vote on the plan this week.

“I’m pleased the House of Representatives has moved very quickly to support a Disaster Relief Bill that funds almost $8 million dollars for Hurricane Harvey recovery. This is just a down payment that addresses short term immediate disaster recovery needs so FEMA has enough for emergency response in the early recovery efforts. Funding for long term recovery efforts such as rebuilding infrastructure needs – that’ll come after we have taken stock of a complete damage report from local officials.”
