Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shines a spotlight on new Reality Based Training Center
On May 20, 2024, leaders from across Texas came together with Sheriff Rand Henderson and Judge Mark Keough to highlight the new Montgomery County Reality Based Training Center in New Caney, Texas. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Representative Steve Toth, Senator Brandon Creighton, and District Attorney Brett Ligon joined Montgomery County Leaders in inaugurating this state-of-the-art training facility.

This facility, a decommissioned school refurbished to train first responders in active attack integrated response, is a collaborative effort between The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Emergency Management, and the State of Texas.
The realistic venue will provide a unique experience for all first responders in active shooter response at the highest level. Furthermore, this facility will offer free training to first responders from all over the country. While we pray there will never be another active shooter incident in the State of Texas, this amazing facility will ensure that law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel are better trained and prepared to handle such situations if they arise.
Sheriff Rand Henderson stated: “The new Montgomery County Reality Based Training Center marks a major innovative advancement in public safety. It ensures our first responders are highly trained and prepared for any active threat challenge. Offering free training to responders nationwide strengthens our collective response and enhances community safety.”
