The exhibition will be on display at the Pearl for one week, September 10 – 18. Cypress Creek Christian Community Center will also host a remembrance celebration focused on Interfaith Relations in America, What Have We Learned in the Twenty Years Since 9/11, while the Barbara Bush Branch Library offers a selection of books related to 9/11.

Fall Exhibitions at the Pearl

Two new exhibitions will be featured at the Pearl Fincher Museum this fall, both centering around art that utilizes paper in a myriad of creative ways.

With traditional hand papermaking at its core, Pulped Under Pressure will be featured in the Main Gallery of the Pearl. Each of the seven artists in this exhibition start simply, with a foundation of pulp made from natural fibers. What they create from that point varies widely, ranging from printmaking to papercutting, installation art with recycled materials, and more. The works encourage viewers to slow down, even as they contemplate some of the most pressing issues facing our world today.

In the Cole Gallery, the Pearl will bring together works by five artists from across the country for a curated exhibition titled, The Art of Paper. With works that range from beautifully detailed to lighthearted and fun, the exhibition highlights how paper—one of life’s most ordinary items—can be transformed into something magical through the hands and minds of talented artists.

Both exhibitions open Friday, September 10, with a special members-only event that evening. For details on becoming a member visit pearlmfa.org.

Field trips are available for students of all ages, including private and homeschool students. For details or to schedule a visit, contact Emily Guerra, Director of Education and Programs, at emily@pearlmfa.org.

The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free.
