On June 1, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office discovered a suspicious package in the 200 block of West Phillips Street. The package was located next to the deputy’s patrol vehicle and was leaning against the rear wheel.

Officers with the Conroe Police Department, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Investigators, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and assisted by securing the area, closing nearby intersections, and ensuring the safety of surrounding businesses and residents.

The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office responded promptly and conducted a thorough assessment of the package. Through their diligent efforts, the package was determined to be safe and posed no threat to the public.

Once the scene was rendered safe, all road closures were lifted, and the area was reopened to normal activity. The Conroe Police Department Criminal Investigations Division has taken possession of the package and will continue investigating along with the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Conroe Police Department would like to thank the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office, and all responding personnel for their coordinated efforts in ensuring the safety of the community.
