March 11

Children’s Storytime on the Plaza – Start off Spring Break on Friday night with an evening storytime! Toy Story’s Woody and Jessie, the only sheriff and deputy duo in the entire world made almost entirely out of plastic, will be on hand at The Plaza to tell area children — no pull-strings attached — all about how to be a good friend. So, wrangle up your kiddos and make sure they’re ready to reach for the sky during this sweet, Toy Story-themed reading at City Place Plaza beginning at 5:30 p.m. Learn More: Children’s Storytime on the Plaza

March 12

Arts in the Park Enjoy an afternoon at this free event featuring live stage performances, local vendors selling original artwork, children’s activities, a Youth Art Contest, and more at Northshore Park from 2-6 p.m. Learn More: The Woodlands Township’sArts in the Park.

Father Son Challenge – Work as a team to complete various challenges located around the Rob Fleming campus. Challenges can include kayaking, archery, puzzles, races and much more! Concert in the Park – Concert in the Park is a popular family tradition of music and fun for all ages, held Sundays at Northshore Park from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in March & April. Coolers, picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs are permitted. Spring Break Storytimes at The Woodlands Children’s Museum – Special storytimes will be offered at The Woodland’s Children’s Museum as part of its Spring BreaKation week. Ms. Frizzle will introduce children to the exciting world of science through two exciting books from The Magic School Bus series at 11 a.m. and noon. Sonidos Sincopados! Musical Workshop with Jorge Orta – Participate in a free musical workshop led by celebrated percussionist Jorge Orta at City Place Plaza at 3 p.m. Students will learn the origins, history, and rhythms inherent in samba, salsa, and more through collaborative music-making and shared performance. March 14 & 15 – Riding & Riding Spring Break Camp – Learn all things horse, from nose to tail: grooming, braiding, feeding, bathing, tack and most importantly – how to ride! No previous horse experience needed. Learn all things writing, from idea to prose: fiction, nonfiction, plots, descriptive language and writing methods. No previous writing experience needed. Campers will read their works at an author reception the following week. Journals provided. This event is presented by Village Books and Lone Star Horsemanship. Nature Bingo at Burroughs Park – Connect the squares on your bingo card by searching for nature with us! Join Trails As Parks naturalists to practice your skills of observation and see if you can spot items found all around us in a game of Nature Bingo. All ages welcome. Stage Combat: Dancing with Swords with iAct – Young Audiences Workshop – Attendees will learn traditional fencing positions in order to choreograph a performance. This free class offered at outdoors at City Park Plaza works best for grade levels 3-12. Students will learn partnering, teamwork, and by completion, each student will choreograph their own stage combat combination/scene. Students will practice/perform with special safety foam swords. March 15, 17, & 19Moms & Minis – Join fun group runs/walks & core workouts just for moms (led by a certified coach) while your preschool-aged children experience 40 minutes of fun, active games AND kindness-focused story time led by a kids’ coach with Stronger to Serve‘s Moms & Minis group. Then head to the The Wheel Kitchen (right next to the park) for socializing and a special deal on coffee and muffins. 25% of every registration goes toward a special family volunteering project for the local charity chosen by the group each quarter! Goat Yoga at The Woodlands Resort – The Woodlands Resort & Goat Yoga Houston invite you to the pristine woods of the beautiful The Woodland Resort for Goat Yoga! Meet the sweet pygmy “kids” while they roam the yoga classes and even join you for a pose or two! Inhale in to relax and BREATHE in the beautiful Texas air then exhale out the laughter that is sure to follow with this activity! Each class is an hour long, 45 minutes of an ashtanga yoga practice for beginners followed by 15 minutes of goat time. Get goat cuddles, partner poses, or pictures with friends! Leprechaun Run & Family Service Project – Join Stronger to Serve for fun games, a 1k or 5k Leprechaun Run and family service project specifically tailored for kids 5 and under and their parents (you’re welcome to bring other kids too)! Be sure to wear green or a St. Patrick’s Day-themed costume for the costume contest! Screen Printing with Danny Russo: Young Audiences Workshop – Danny Russo introduces students to a versatile printing process utilized by visual artists worldwide. Check out books at the local library, enjoy a backyard or park picnic, go to a pottery making class, take a stroll through Old Town Spring, take a painting class, or get old school with the classic video arcade room.
