The Montgomery County Food Bank received 40,000 pounds of food donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and JustServe. This donation was part of a nationwide effort to donate 250 truckloads of food to food banks across all 50 states as part of the celebration of America’s semiquincentennial.

Roy Richter, Stake President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in The Woodlands, said, “It is a blessing to be part of the safety net that provides stability and care for our friends in the community.”

This historic gift will provide 30,000 meals to families in the region. Following this massive delivery, volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ packed and prepared even more meals at the Produce Rescue Center.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside Montgomery County Food Bank and dozens of other charities in our area,” Richter said.

JustServe is a community service platform sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that connects volunteers with local service opportunities. Its purpose is to help individuals and organizations strengthen their communities by serving together.

The Church is using its established infrastructure, volunteer network, and humanitarian food resources to help bring America250 into neighborhoods like those in Conroe, turning a national commemoration into meaningful local service. The 250 deliveries nationwide will provide approximately 10 million meals to families in need across the United States as part of the America Gives initiative.
