Deep Brain Stimulation is a surgical treatment option for patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease and essential tremors. Surgeons implant a device that acts like a pacemaker for the brain, sending mild electrical signals to specific parts of the brain. The signals reorganize the brain’s electrical impulses, resulting in improved symptoms for many neurological conditions.

While it’s not a cure and does not slow progression of disease, it can dramatically reduce symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and improve the quality of life for many patients. For more information, visit memorialhermann.org/services/treatments/deep-brain-stimulation.
