“Life is short. Let’s make the most of it for ourselves and our loved ones,” says kick off host and 2023 Go Red for Women Chair, Lonny Soza. “By supporting the American Heart Association in Montgomery County, you are championing longer, healthier lives for our community. Together, we’re knocking down barriers to health care access and promoting cardiovascular health for all. Everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy a full, healthy life.”

The family and pet friendly 2022 Montgomery County Heart Walk takes place at Northshore Park in The Woodlands on Saturday, November 12. Presented by Kiewit Corporation, the walk unites the community in celebrating health and honoring survivors. Chair Ben Bentley, EVP Kiewit Corporation, will be joined by other likeminded working professionals striving to increase physical and mental health, combat employee burnout and promote community engagement.

The 2023 Montgomery County Heart Ball will be held February 25 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. This glitzy annual gala includes dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions, and is the culmination of the year-round Heart of Montgomery County campaign, focused on CPR education, controlling blood pressure, improving nutrition security, and fighting the tobacco and vaping crisis in our community. The Heart Ball, presented by CHI St. Luke’s, is an opportunity to celebrate survivors and the progress made to eradicate heart disease and stroke through the determination, dedication and passion of all who support the Heart of Montgomery County.

The 2023 Montgomery County Go Red for Women Luncheon will take place Friday, May 19 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott with hundreds of community members, medical professionals and corporate leaders dressed in their best red attire. This signature event in the Go Red movement is presented by Elivra Graham and Lonny Soza, President of The Post Oak Collection, and is designed to raise awareness of the number one killer of women: cardiovascular disease. Since 2004, the movement has harnessed the energy, passion, and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. Go Red is committed to meeting the comprehensive health needs of women — at every age and stage of life.

“Women experience unique life stages, such as pregnancy and menopause, that can put us at increased risk for cardiovascular disease,” says Amy Torres, host of the kick-off and 2023 Circle of Red Chair. “Yet, many women do not know that heart disease is their number one health threat and stroke is number four. We continue to be underrepresented in cardiovascular research. The American Heart Association is working to change that.”

The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While nearly 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For 17 years, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters. For more information, please visit or call 1-800-AHA-USA1 (242-8721).
