Defending Champion Scott Dunlap joins Media Leaders for Insperity Invitational’s Shootout in The Woodlands

Many of Houston’s media personalities competed head-to-head for $20,000 while representing one of the Insperity Invitational presented by UnitedHealthcare’s charitable partners at the Shootout in The Woodlands.

The annual event was held in conjunction with the Insperity Invitational’s Sponsor and Media Day, April 1 at 12 noon, at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course.

Just prior to the Shootout, lunch was served with a fireside chat with PGA TOUR Champions professional and defending champion, Scott Dunlap, was held at The Woodlands Country Club. In lieu of sponsor gifts, a $10,000 donation was presented to Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center during the program.

The fun event consisted of 12 media from Southern Texas participating in a closest to the pin shootout with $20,000 up for grabs for charity. Each media representative played for one of the Tournament’s Charitable partners: Interfaith of The Woodlands; Inspiration Ranch; Yes to Youth Montgomery County; Be An Angel; and PGA REACH Southern Texas.

The match play bracket consisted of three rounds on the 18th hole of The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course with each media representative taking one shot. Closest to the hole advanced to the next round.

Scott Dunlap teed up the event. The PGA TOUR Champions star will make his first trip to The Woodlands for the Insperity Invitational, April 28 – May 4, to defend his second PGA TOUR Champions title.

A PGA TOUR Champions event, the Insperity Invitational features the world’s premier golfers age 50 and older. The tournament has received the prestigious Presidents Award as the best event on the Champions Tour, the President’s Award for Excellence in Achievement and twice The Players Award for having the “best of everything” for the players, sponsors and spectators. Interfaith of The Woodlands, one of the local charities benefitting from the tournament, was named a PGA TOUR Champions Charity of the Year.
