Montgomery County Food Bank selected for inaugural cohort of Anthropic’s Claude Corps
Montgomery County Food Bank has been selected as one of the first host organizations for Claude Corps, a new national fellowship program launched today by Anthropic, the AI company behind Claude. The national program, backed by an initial $150 million commitment, will train 1,000 early-career fellows and embed them full time at nonprofits across America for one year.
Montgomery County Food Bank is one of nine host organizations around the country named in the June 11th announcement, alongside the International Rescue Committee, Code for America, the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, and other great non-profits. The Food Bank’s Claude Corps fellow will apply AI to challenges that directly affect families in need, including logistics optimization, distribution forecasting, and turning data into faster decisions.

“Hunger doesn’t wait, and neither can innovation,” said Scott Burns, President and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank. “Food banks need to be as forward-thinking in how we solve problems as we are committed to the people we serve.”
Each 12-month fellowship pairs intensive training from Anthropic with hands-on work at the host organization. The first cohort begins in October 2026. Montgomery County is the fourth fastest-growing county in the nation and home to more than 100,000 food-insecure neighbors, and the Food Bank has steadily expanded its use of AI tools to serve neighbors more effectively.
A dedicated fellow will accelerate that work in service of the Food Bank’s mission of uniting the community to fight hunger.Fellowship applications opened today at anthropic.com/claude-corps and close July 17 for the first cohort. Anyone 18 or older with under two years of full-time work experience may apply, regardless of educational background. Learn more about the program in today’s press release from Anthropic.
