The Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management shared the following weather and flooding update on Tuesday, January 23 at 7 a.m.:

Status Update from San Jacinto River Authority

Status Update from SJRA: The San Jacinto River Authority continues to closely monitor the rainfall in the Lake Conroe Watershed. SJRA operators are on duty, and will remain on duty throughout this weather event to monitor conditions.

The current level of Lake Conroe is 201.49 ft. The current release level is 2128 cfs. SJRA manages Lake Conroe storm releases any time the normal “full” level exceeds 201 ft. above mean sea level (msl).

There are currently no threats of flooding downstream as a result of these releases.

Our office is monitoring this release, and will remain in close contact with the SJRA on duty operators until Lake Conroe is back at its normal level of 201 ft.

Montgomery County under Flood Watch

Montgomery County is under a flood watch through Wednesday.

We expect another round of rain today and some of this rain could produce locally heavy downpours. 2-4 inches likely across the area with the potential for higher amounts in areas experiencing training.

Remember to turn around don’t drown.

Should warnings be issued or if we start to see roadways impacted by flooding we will update as needed.

Our office remains in contact with the National Weather Service and continues to monitor the situation. We are pushing additional information to all of our county wide agencies and local school districts to provide real time situational awareness.

Stay weather aware today and be careful.
