PHOTOS: Snow Day on Tuesday, January 21 in Montgomery County and across Houston

Many woke up this morning on Tuesday, January 21 with 2 or more inches of snow covering the ground. See photos below and updates from across Montgomery County and the Houston area on this historic day of snow.

“This will certainly be a day to remember for much of the Houston/Galveston area,” shared the U.S. National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas. “Many reports 2-4″ of snowfall, with the highest reaching 6 inches.”

The Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management measured 2 inches this morning at their office on Airport Rd in Conroe.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shared, “No matter the weather conditions, our dedicated Deputies are out in full force, ensuring our community remains safe and secure. Even K9 Chico and K9 Champ are on the job, doing their part to keep us all protected.”

The Village of Cochran’s Crossing Association shared snowy views from the Copper Sage Neighborhood by Lake Woodlands and Cochran’s Crossing.

Schools were closed across Montgomery County, but we still had the opportunity to see snow cover the campus of The John Cooper School located at One John Cooper Drive in The Woodlands.

Montgomery County Hospital District Paramedics and EMTS also got to join in the fun and enjoyed the snow day in between 911 calls.

Please be safe and stay home if you can! The Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday for portions of south central and southeast Texas.

The Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management shared, “Tonight expect another cold night with a hard freeze.Temperatures plunging to 19 degrees with wind chill below 10 degrees. The roads will not have time to thaw or dry today before refreezing. Please stay off the roads today and especially tomorrow through midday. Icy dangerous conditions expected on most roadways and overpasses overnight during hard freeze.”

The Woodlands Township shared a Winter Weather Update at 5:13 p.m. sharing, “Residents are encouraged to continue protecting their family, pets, plants and pipes. Roads that thawed during the day are likely to refreeze as temperatures drop below freezing, potentially resulting in hazardous conditions, including black ice. Travel is discouraged during these times.”

At 8:26 p.m. the U.S. National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas reported, “As of 8pm, temperatures are already down into the mid-20s for much of the area – and temperatures will only continue to fall through the night. Wet, slushy roads will become deadly tonight with icy conditions. So, please do not travel unless absolutely necessary.”
