Township honors 26 Public Safety Heroes

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – The Woodlands Township honored 26 public safety personnel for going the extra mile to make The Woodlands a safer community as The Woodlands Township hosted the Annual Public Safety Awards, Honoring Those Who Serve.

Held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center with hundreds of people in attendance, including honorees, guests and community leaders, the event paid tribute to 26 individuals in public safety from The Woodlands Fire Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Montgomery County Hospital District, the Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3 and Harris County Constable’s Office, Precinct 4. Each honoree was chosen by their respective department for exemplary service and dedication to public safety.

Receiving the Commendation Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was Deputy Frank Pearson.

Receiving the Meritorious Service Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were Deputy Trent Holcomb and Deputy Moamen Abdelbaky.

Receiving a Life Saving Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were Deputy Dominic Trevino, Deputy Sam Smith and Deputy Michael Berry.

Receiving the Meritorious Service Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Pct. 3 was Detective Eric Runyon.

Receiving the Meritorious Unit Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Harris County Constable’s Office, Pct. 4 were Sergeant Mike Ruby, Corporal John Ryan, Deputy Dennis Cowan, Deputy Dustin Cole, Deputy Kevin Vailes, Deputy Jorge Ramirez, Deputy Jonathan Davison, Deputy Lorena Hernandez, Deputy Jose Rodriguez, Deputy Adolph Saenz, Deputy William Frizzell and Deputy Alexandra Olvera.

Receiving a Life Saving Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to the Montgomery County Hospital District was Field Supervisor Jacob Shaw.

Receiving a Life Saving Award for distinctive professionalism and dedication to duty to The Woodlands Fire Department were: Battalion Chief Bob Moore, Lieutenant John Cantarella, Driver/Operator Doug DeVries, Driver/Operator Kevin Cowham, Firefighter Kevin Wiens and Firefighter Jonathan Tatum.

The Woodlands Township hosts this event each year, along with support and sponsorships from many other businesses and individuals in The Woodlands and South Montgomery County area. This year, the major sponsors were America’s ER, Kroger, Woodforest National Bank, Alpha and Omega Mounted Patrol, CORE Lending, The Woodlands Development Company/The Howard Hughes Corporation, and The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership.

“Every one of these individuals ensures the safety and security of residents and visitors of The Woodlands,” said The Woodlands Township Board Secretary Dr. Ann Snyder, who served as emcee for the event. “We commend them for going the extra mile in making The Woodlands a safer community.”
