Spanning five-and-one-half floors, the lease at 3 Waterway Square exemplifies the leasing momentum that continues throughout The Woodlands, with a low vacancy rate at nearly half the level being experienced in Houston’s central business district.

“The Woodlands was fortunate to have Waste Connections relocate to our community over a decade ago, and it has been exciting to help accommodate their continued growth and expansion,” said Jim Carman, President, Houston Region for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “The Woodlands is a vibrant community that offers an exceptional quality of life combined with world-class amenities that continue to make it a popular, appealing choice for companies like Waste Connections.”

Waste Connections was an early example of corporate relocation from California to The Woodlands that would become the “flight to quality” trend which has seen over 130 companies relocate to Texas from California since 2020 alone, according to Texas Standard™. Waste Connections joins companies including Obagi, SmartDraw, Nurix, and Cellipoint who have selected to move to The Woodlands to pursue opportunities for successful, sustainable growth.

“Over 12 years ago, Waste Connections relocated our then corporate headquarters, now our principal administrative offices, to The Woodlands. This relocation was motivated by the desire to strategically place our company in a business-driven environment that would provide easy access to business travel, first-class recruitment talent, and a community where our employees and their families would thrive,” reflected Ron Mittelstaedt, Chief Executive Officer and President of Waste Connections. “This is exactly what The Woodlands has provided for our company and our corporate employees. We look forward to continuing our partnership with The Howard Hughes Corporation and remaining an active and engaged member of this community.”
