Township holds Board Meeting and Incorporation Planning Session on August 16

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a regular meeting on Thursday, August 16, 2018 where the Board took the following actions on the Consent Agenda:

  • Received Administrative Reports from Township departments;
  • Approved the purchase of the Motorola Fire Department Accountability System and related funding contribution from Montgomery County Emergency Communication District (MCECD 911);

The Board of Directors then moved on to take the following actions on the Regular Agenda:

  • Awarded a bid for the construction of the Adventure Course to be located at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park and approved the related Business and Operations Plan;
  • Deferred repairs to the Fountains at Waterway Square and authorized the Chairman to renegotiate the Donation Special Warranty Deed related to Waterway Square;
  • Approved Resolution 009-18 nominating Peggy Hausman as a candidate to fill a vacancy on the Montgomery Central Appraisal District Board of Directors;

The Board also approved an engagement letter with the Baker McKenzie law firm.

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors also held an Incorporation Planning Session on Thursday, August 16, 2018, to discuss future governance.

The Board of Directors discussed the following incorporation-related matters on the Regular Agenda:

  • Approved additional Frequently Asked Questions to be added to the Incorporation Website;
  • Received a draft law enforcement study;
  • Received and accepted updated meeting schedule;

At the August 16 planning session, consultants from the Matrix Consulting Group presented the draft public safety/law enforcement report related to the Future Governance/Incorporation study.

The Township has engaged consulting firms to assist with the incorporation planning process and updates from the consultants will be provided at each of the Township Board planning session meetings through 2018. The public will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the Board at each of the meetings; however, the Wednesday meetings at 6 p.m. will focus on input from residents. The next incorporation planning session will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at The Woodlands Township, on the same days as the Board’s regular business meetings.

The Township will also be hosting community Town Hall meetings with the first scheduled for Tuesday, September 25 at 6:30 p.m. at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.

All regular Board meetings and planning sessions are held at the Township Town Hall building located at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd.
