International Field Confirmed for 20th Anniversary of Insperity Invitational in The Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, TX — Steven Alker will look to successfully defend his Insperity Invitational presented by UnitedHealthcare title when a star-studded lineup of 78 PGA TOUR Champions players representing 16 countries tee it up in The Woodlands, TX, April 28-30.
Alker will look to become just the second player in the tournament’s 20-year history to win in back-to-back years. Bernhard Langer is the only player to accomplish the feat. Two of Langer’s four victories came in 2007, 2008.
Sitting tied at 45 with Hale Irwin for the most victories ever on the PGA TOUR Champions, Langer will have to contend this week with six other World Golf Hall of Famers including: Ernie Els; Retief Goosen; Colin Montgomerie; Mark O’Meara; José María Olazábal; and Vijay Singh.
“This incredible group have delivered countless memorable moments in our game throughout their illustrious careers, and I know are determined to put on another great show in The Woodlands as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations,” said Bryan Naugle, executive director, Insperity Invitational. “They rekindle these special moments for all of our spectators, but equally as important, they create new memories for young golf fans who take our event in each year.”
Golf’s greats will fly the flags of 16 different countries at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course. The impressive list of names includes: Steven Alker (New Zealand); Robert Allenby and Stuart Appleby (Australia); Alex Cejka and Bernhard Langer (Germany); Stephen Ames and Mike Weir (Canada); Paul Broadhurst (England); K.J. Choi and Y.E. Yang (South Korea); Ernie Els and Retief Goosen (South Africa); Thongchai Jaidee (Thailand); Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley (Ireland); Darren Clarke (Northern Ireland); Robert Karlsson (Sweden); Miguel Angel Jimenez and José María Olazábal (Spain); Colin Montgomerie (Scotland); Vijay Singh (Fiji); Esteban Toledo (Mexico) along with a high-powered group of Americans including David Toms, David Duval, Justin Leonard, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker and Tom Lehman.
Every name in the top-30 from the 2022 Charles Schwab Cup Money List will also be on this year’s tee sheet. The lineup of players in 2023 also boasts eight of the tournament’s previous champions including: defending champion, Steven Alker (2022), Mike Weir (2021), Scott McCarron (2019), Bernhard Langer (2018, 2014, 2008, 2007), John Daly (2017), Esteban Toledeo (2013), Fred Funk (2012), and Jay Haas (2006).
The 78 names include 23 players who have combined to win 33 major championships and 58 players who have tallied nearly 350 titles on the PGA TOUR. The illustrious group have also combined to win more than 50 PGA TOUR Champions major titles and have topped 260 victories on the senior swing.

In addition, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, and Annika along with 12 of their legendary friends in golf will play in the Folds of Honor Greats of Golf on April 29, 2023 – an annual tradition held in conjunction with the second round of the Insperity Invitational presented by UnitedHealthcare.
The distinguished group of golf’s greats that includes 13 World Golf Hall of Fame Members will tee it up for the 10th time at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course for the special Saturday competition beginning at approximately 2 p.m. on the 10th tee box.
